Coach Mahone's philosophy 

Basketball is much like life. In life, we compete for opportunities, positions, and recognition. Basketball is an educational experience involving many learning principles used in traditional classrooms. Learning comes through repetition, which brings me to the most pertinent aspect of coaching--FUNDAMENTALS.  
 

Regardless of what your goal is in life, you can never reach your full potential until you master the fundamentals of your trade. Perfection is the objective and repetition will bring this. You must execute the fundamentals with precision, so they become innate.
 
I firmly believe all athletes must master the fundamentals of the game if they intend to be ready for competition at the next level. The will to prepare should

be stronger than the will to compete.

Coach Mahone developed a love of basketball from an early age. Growing up, CerCi could be found dribbling a basketball across his hometown of Kenosha, WI and practicing jump shots in the dark. His hard work paid off and led to a prosperous and rewarding basketball career. In South Dakota, CerCi was a standout college player, winning several accolades, which ultimately provided him with the once in a lifetime opportunity to compete at the highest level. His unique experiences as a player led him to the next iteration of his basketball career, becoming a coach. CerCi attributes his success to his unwavering pursuit of greatness and consistent practice of fundamentals. He has had the privilege to work with athletes from elementary through college and over 20 athletes have earned college scholarships as a result of working with him. CerCi lives by the motto, "the will to prepare should be stronger than the will to compete" and his basketball program embodies just that.
